Dear Future Students,
I would like to recommend you to take Seeing Sideways as a class in the future. The class is something that I would say is very different from any other New Media and Science course. Taking N385 will be a way to get students to think differently when it comes to assignments and when it just comes to class discussions in the class. The class offers many different possibilities to what you can do, Each assignment has its own way to allow the student to express themselves in ways that can allow you to view things differently. Taking this class is also a way to learn a lot about yourself because you have a choice to what you want to do for each assignment even though there is a rubric to follow on each assignment. You have to also create a blog and post each assignment and class discussions to it. That is how the grading of the course is determined.
One thing that I really got from being in the Seeing Sideways class is knowing that I really that didn't have a limit to what I could do for each assignment. There was this one assignment where we told to break a rule. At first everyone in class was like, "huh?" when being giving this assignment. For that assignment, I took a picture of my self wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog shirt. The shirt had said "Old school" on it. I basically just took the picture and flipped it to where the worlds were spelled backwards. Even though it seems like a simple thing, I seen it as a way of breaking a rule in my own little way. When taking pictures people will expect to see what was taken, instead of seeing whats there, but not right at the same time. I feel that I wouldn't have never thought of that if it wasn't for taking this class. So taking N385 will be a great way to learn how to think differently when it comes to New Media and life.
I believe that taking this class will have a huge impact on my future classes, because after taking this class. I have learned to view ideas and think on certain things differently, rather its doing an assignment or just seeing what everyone else in class is doing. Even though I feel that there is a lot that I still need to learn about myself, I feel that my thinking has really changed after doing assignments and seeing what others have done in class...

Research Project...
I really enjoy reading manga/anime comics as one of my favorite hobbies. One of my most favorite manga's to read is a story called Naruto. Naruto is a story written and illustrated by an artist named Masashi Kishimoto. Masashi was born on November 8th 1974, he is very known in Japan for creating the story Naruto. Naruto. I really enjoy reading this because it it filled with lots of action and it inspires me to want to also create my own action based comics. Naruto is a story about a young ninja boy who has this demon spirit known as the nine tail fox that lies within him. Naruto started out as a lonely failure who use to mess up everything he touched, he was also hated by his own village people because of that demon spirit thats in him. As the story progresses though, Naruto starts to become one of the strongest ninja's in his village and isn't seen as a failure anymore. even though he still has the nine tail fox in him, he is becoming a very respected ninja and known ninja to everyone. The story has yet to be completed yet, but I continue reading each volume thats put out every week. For the final project I will be showing eight pages of my very own comic with my own original story, that I was inspired to create from reading manga like Naruto. My story is called Jino, The young Shinobi and its about a 12 year boy who is trying to catch a fish to take home to his grandpa. Jino is very impatient when it comes to learning new things. In these first eight pages Jino is seen first trying to catch a fish with his fishing rod. The string on the rod snaps when a fish begins to tug on the string, Instead of Jino just re-doing the string on the rod, he begins to use a special technique to catch the biggest fish.

My Journey thus far...
I wasnt able to make it to class last week, so I missed what was discussed in class, but I will explain what I have learned so far while being enrolled into the class. I feel like I have learned some things about the way I think now when it comes to assignments. Being in this class really challenges my thinking, I also Like how creativity plays in the class. There are so many ways into doing an assignment and being able to express your self.
My Inspiration....
The one thing that really gives me inspiration when it comes to drawing in my comics or creating new ideas, is watching other cartoons or movies of my interest. I really like to read certain anime like; Naruto, Bleach, and Dragonball Z and looking at the art work and angles really inspires my thoughts on producing something that will be a success like those in the future...

My Fear Proposal...
I been thinking about this assignment and I still really don't know exactly what I want to do. The definition of fear is to be afraid of something, it also means to be un easy, and apprehensive. One thing that I do fear is super heights. I use the term super heights because I really don't fear them until im very high up some where. So im a try to base my project on something that deals with me over coming that fear...

"BLISS"
I made a video for the "bliss assignment" I wasn't in class to receive the stuffed animal, but i decided to use my blue and white santa clause hat for the assignment... I basically made a video about things that makes me mad in the morning. I felt that using my hat would add a little humor to the video. The video was previously uploaded to facebook so hopefully it should play, if not though, I will re upload the video... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=479868211481
